The German dressage rider Maike Mende loses her long-time partner Rothschild to severe colic.
Together with the gray gelding, Mende succeeded in the junior and young rider tour, as well as the heavy class.
The gelding was 17 years old.

Mende and Rothschild were a team for over 10 years.
When he was 8 years old, the Rohdiamant grandson out of a Pik Labionics dam joined the Mende family in 2012.
He was brought into the sport by Tom van der Linden. Rothschild was the optimal partner for Maike Mende for the transition after the pony era. When he came to the Mende family, he was already missing his left eye.
However, this did not affect him in his athletic career.

Mende announced the death of her longtime partner on social media.
From 2015, the appearance of the mold became rarer. He showed up only selectively nationally. Internationally was only barely seen.
Only recently at the beginning of April this year, the pair could still place second in a S* dressage in Münster.
On her social channels, the dressage rider said goodbye to Rothschild: "Quite unexpectedly you passed away today..take care my best friend, thank you so much for all the beautiful moments every day, you will stay forever in my heart and I will never forget you, my #onceinalifetimehorse."
