Wellington: Philipp Weishaupt wins Grand Prix

Daniel Deußer and Tobago Z in fifth place at the CSI5*

Wellington (fn-press). The fifth week of the three-month show series in Wellington (Florida/USA) ended with Philipp Weishaupt's victory in the Grand Prix. The Riesenbecker fielded the Hanoverian Coby in the test, which was worth the equivalent of around 360,000 euros. Only his compatriot Daniel Deußer was faster in the jump-off, but he suffered a down with the stallion Tobago Z.

In the fifth week of the event, a large number of show jumping celebrities also came to the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. Two riders from Germany had qualified for the generously endowed Grand Prix of the five-star CSI: Philipp Weishaupt and Daniel Deußer (Rijmenam/Belgium). He has often proved that his Hanoverian Coby is a very fast horse. Also in the jump-off, which eight couples had achieved, he didn't let anything go to waste. The two crossed the finish line flawlessly in 40.96 seconds. It is the second major success within a few weeks, as the pair won the CSI5* Grand Prix in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) in December.

Daniel Deußer mastered the jump-off course much faster. His Zangersheide stallion Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z, who is also feared by the competition because of his speed, "swept" the finish line in 38.5 seconds. The pole fell at the last obstacle – it was fifth place.

The Irishman Conor Swail, who has climbed the world rankings (9th place), claimed second place. The 41-year-old sat in the saddle of the 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding Count Me by Count Grannus (0/41.42) followed by USA's Brian Moggre. The 20-year-old up-and-coming star of the international show jumping scene, winner of the Nations Cup with the US team and second in the Grand Prix at the CHIO Aachen, competed in Wellington with his Oldenburg Balou du Reventon by. Cornet Obolensky. He also shot clean in 41.58 seconds. Fourth was the Canadian Mario Deslauries with the Holsteiner Bardolina by. Clarimo (0/45.16). hen
