There is no other way to describe it than a shock Simone Blum announced yesterday Tuesday on her Facebook page!
The current world champion will not be able to participate in the Olympic Games with her wonder mare DSP Alice.
The reason for this is an injury to the chestnut mare!

But now from the beginning. Simone Blum and "Alice from Wonderland", as she is affectionately called in her fans, made a dream start in her career.

First the victory at the German Championships of the Amazons, where no one really had her on the list. Then followed the first international stakes and Nations Cups. Here, too, the pair from Bavaria showed that they could be counted on.

Various nominations to various championships followed, including the world championships in Tryon in 2019.

There happened what everyone thought was possible, but at first no one really wanted to believe. Blum and Alice became world champions. In the entire time during the World Championships, the Askari daughter did not touch a single pole. This, of course, attracted many potential buyers. Blum and her family stood firm and announced "that Alice will stay with us in Bavaria!" A clear announcement!

Then happiness also entered the lives of Hansi and Simone Blum in private. Daughter Hannah was born in early 2020. But Blum's focus was clearly on the Olympic Games, which were actually planned for 2020 by then. "Yes, the pregnancy and the birth were of course also planned with an eye on the Olympics," she announced at the time.

Blum quickly got back in the saddle after her husband kept Alice fit in training at home. But Corona and the herpes virus put a spoke in Blum's wheel. If Alice had ever been seen, it was only on the warm-up ring at a show, not in the course itself. Blum wanted to go easy on Alice.

But when it could start again properly, Alice contracted a lumbago and had to take a little break. Her rider also announced on her Instagram page that she herself would sometimes feel "still a little rusty." But she continued to train her promising young horses, such as DSP Cool Hill and DSP Cellvista.

Now on her Instagram page the big shock. There Blum writes that Alice had contracted a bruise on her leg, which unfortunately could not be repaired on its own. Therefore, surgery was inevitable. As a result, the dream of Olympia had also been shattered.

National coach Otto Becker is also disappointed that the world champion pair can not be there, but he also sees, like Blum, the focus first on the health of Alice!
