Opglabbeek (fn-press). The young German jumping teams returned from the Nations Cup tournament in Belgium with a second, a third and two fourth places. It was the start of the Nations Cup season, which leads to the European Championship via tournaments in Italy, France, Austria and the Czech Republic.

“That was the start of the Nations Cup season. There were many teams at the start and we got a good overview of their and our own level of performance. Certainly not all couples have reached their 100% level yet, but we know what we want to work on,” concludes Peter Teeuwen, who as national trainer looks after juniors and young riders. “We tend to be broad-based this season and will be sending more couples to Nations Cups in the coming weeks to see who ends up being eligible for a championship.”

There are a few dates for the young German show jumpers: First the Nations Cups in Gorla Minore (Italy), Zdudovice (Czech Republic), Fontainebleau (France), Lamprechtshausen (Austria), before the prize for the best. More Nations Cups follow in Zuidwolde (Netherlands) and the international tournament "Future Champions" in Hagen as the last sighting before the European Championships in Oliva, Spain.

Things went as follows in Belgium: The Children's U14 team led by their national coach Eberhard Seemann secured third place in their Nations Cup behind France and Belgium. The German colors were represented by Amy Helfrich with Leon, Tony Stormanns with Came, Frieda Raupach with Stakkata and Antonia Häsler with Dynamite N.

Theresa Kröninger with Hummer-N, Romy Rosalie Tietje with Cascadino, Mathies Rüder with For Freedom Ekt and Max Paschertz with Sem Semper just missed out on team victory in the U18 Nations Cup behind Belgium. Only an obstacle error separated the German team from victory. Isabelle Grandke with Quukske Z, Michel Brosswitz with Cormick, Calvin Böckmann with Cerano and Hannes Ahlmann with Baloucan started for the young riders (U21). It was enough for fourth place in their Nations Cup.

Pony national trainer Karl Brocks competed in Belgium with his U16 team consisting of Leonie Assmann with Hankifax H, Franca Clementine Kröly with Karim Van Orchids, Hanna Bräuer with Miss Mc Fly D and Emile Baurand with Ami. His team also finished fourth. "It would have been a lot more. Nations Cups have their own laws. It takes a lot of luck for everyone in the team to do their best on the spot – that applies to riders and, of course, horses. That is what makes our sport so interesting.”

For the German pony jumping riders, the next Nations Cups will go to Gorla Minore, Fontainebleau, Lamprechtshausen, Zuidwolde, Hagen and then to the Pony European Championships in Poland. The price of the best in Warendorf is also a sighting for the EM for the ponies.
