The six-year-old grey stallion Cookie dough, ridden by Sabine Deparade, is the Bundeschampion of the eventing ponies. With consistently excellent performances, he won ahead of Ace of Spades under Antonia Dewes and Quatman's Boy under Anna Katharina Thomasmeyer.
Cookie dough (by Del Piero - Diarado) from the Saxony-Anhalt breeding area was convincing all along the line: Last year he was seventh at the Bundeschampionat and was ridden by Antje Deparade, but this season her sister Sabine took over the reins and drove the now clearly experienced stallion right to the front of the competition. In the qualification for the final, the white stallion had already attracted attention with his second place and an outstanding score of 9.4, then he collected important points in the dressage (7.3) and especially in the jumping with a score of 9.0. Although he lacked a bit of freshness in the final cross, the extraordinarily rideable stallion, bred by Andreas Hahn, had enough of a cushion from the partial tests to secure the title - after deducting 0.7 time faults - with a straightforwardly good 8.0 in the final cross. "He wants to do everything right," commented judge Monika Schnepper, awarding especially high marks in rideability for the supple jumping and energetic cantering six-year-old owned by Jochen Deparade.

Ready to perform and quick

Ace of Spades, who started the final in third place, was ridden by Antonia Dewes, whose mother Monika is the owner of the bay horse, and managed to move up one place with a fantastic cross-country round to finish second in the final classification: The six-year-old gelding (by Coelenhage's Amor - Art's Dancer Boy) is bred by Andreas Eltze and scored points for his willingness to perform, among other things. In addition, Ace von Spades completed the course so smoothly and quickly, also thanks to the particularly harmonious interaction with his rider, that he had no time faults - and his cross-country score of 8.5 was therefore without deductions.
The podium was completed by Quatman's Boy B from a renowned breeding station: Wilhelm and Helga Brundiers are the breeders and owners of the five-year-old Quatmans son out of a Caliostro dam. Presented by his young rider in a highly motivated manner, the bay gelding presented himself fresh and as a real sportsman, who left nothing to be desired, especially in terms of jumping ability, and to whom the judges attested a healthy portion of ambition.

Top score of the day for SF Dayton

SF Dayton (by SF Detroit - St. Annens Monsieur, bred by Schmücker-Feld) and Tom Meier received the highest score in the cross-country competition. The pair scored 8.7 without any time deductions - fourth place in the final standings after an extremely dynamic round. They finished ahead of last year's Bundeschampioness: I Candy Splash EA (by Black Eyed Peas - FS Chambertin, breeder/broeder: Elisabeth Ahn). The six-year-old had won the qualification for the final with an outstanding 9.5, but after a good dressage she had to give up in the jumping with three faults. After deductions for time faults, the 8.1 (8.6) was "only" enough for fifth place.
A total of 18 ponies competed in the final qualification of the five- and six-year-old eventing ponies - eleven of them were able to secure their ticket for the combined final. Nine of them competed in the final cross. There, apart from the game of light and shadow, time played a very decisive role: Only two of the nine ponies managed to canter on the 1,300-metre course in the obviously very tight time.
