Westphalian Champion Stallions Inspire Large Audience

Four varied licensing days came to an end today, Wednesday, at the Westphalian Horse Centre. In front of a large Handorf audience, 37 of the 55 dressage stallions and 16 of the 30 jumping stallions received a positive approval. Already on Monday, a Viva Gold/Fidertanz son was chosen as the winner of the dressage stallions. The winning stallion in the competition of the jumping stallions is a stallion by Conthargos/Casall.
Breeding director Thomas Münch called the winning stallion by Viva Gold, bred by Bernd Goeke, Hamm, out of the Verb.Pr.Stute Finess by Fidertanz/Show Star, "a shining light from the breeder's hand" and exhibited him at the licensing. The Westphalian stallion with a strong type not only convinced the licensing committee with his flawless lateral appearance, but also impressed in all three basic gaits. The enthusiastic spectators celebrated the spectacular young stallion with standing ovations. He was sold to Helgstrand Dressage for € 1.2 million at the subsequent auction and will appear under the name V-Power in the future.

Also from the first crop of the Vivaldi son Viva Gold comes one of the two 1st Reserve Winners: an expressive and strong moving chestnut stallion out of a mating with a Fidermark/Davignon I mare (breeder: Rebekka Aicher Koch, Switzerland; exhibitor: BG W. Ottmann and Dr. H. Möhlenkamp, Saerbeck). The Westphalian young stallion convinced with a lot of tact and his well angulated and active hind leg. Münch especially emphasised the lunge work, which was characterised by natural uprightness and a lot of movement. The Viva Gold/Fidermark son will move into his stall at the Lower Saxony State Stud in Celle in the future. The second 1st Reserve Champion was a Lord Europe/Don Frederic son (breeder: Wieghaus-Vorwerk GbR, Neuenkirchen-Vörden; exhibitor: Gestüt Schafhof, Kronberg) with his "mighty appearance". The beautiful black stallion, who stands in the middle frame, performed excellently in all three gaits. Especially the extraordinary elasticity and mechanics in trot and canter were emphasised by Breeding Director Münch in his comments.
The other three stallions in the final ring were awarded the 2nd Reserve Champion Stallion. On the one hand an Escamillo/Don Nobless son (breeder: Mr. and Mrs. Willers-Moritzer, Rheine; exhibitor: Norbert Weiss, Switzerland). The black stallion with a youthful and blooming appearance convinced with a lot of impulsion and carrying power in the trot, excellent frame extension in the canter and a generous walk. Another Escamillo son, this time mated to a mare by Vitalis, bred and exhibited by Lars Nieberg, Sendenhorst, secured the second 2nd Reserve Champion. The bay young stallion with an impressive front horse presented himself well muscled and powerful. The third in the group is a son of Valverde out of a mare by Desperados (breeder: ZG Judith u. Sönke Schmidt, Naumburg; Helgstrand Dressage APS, Denmark). The long lined model athlete showed a lot of conformation, well laid out body parts and strong movements.
Of the seven premium stallions, two will be stallions at the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud in Warendorf in the future. Fortunio is a For Romance II/Zack son (breeder: L. van Zandwijk, Netherlands; exhibitor: Andre Koop) and Global Dancer is a Global Player/Clintino son (breeder: Dr. Johann Pfleger, Reutte; exhibitor: Heinrich Ramsbrock, Menslage). Also among the premium stallions there is a descendant of Viva Gold. The chestnut stallion (breeder and outfitter: ZG Walloch/Pearse, Haan), who was bred to a Rock Forever I mare, will in future reside at the Holkenbrink station under the name Vandenberg.
Further premium stallions:
Stallion by Benicio/Likoto xx (breeder: Dr. Malte E. Klar, Bad Homburg; exhibitor: Mathieu Beckmann, Wettringen).
Stallion by Grand Galaxy Win T/Samarant (breeder: Willem Klausing GbR, Diepholz; exhibitor: Helgstrand APS, Vodskov)
Stallion by Jovian/Diamond Hit (breeder and exhibitor: S.R. Holtwiesche GbR, Gescher)
Stallion by Zoom/Sir Heinrich (breeder: Ernst Behrens-Witteborg, Soest-Ampen; exhibitor: Mathieu Beckmann, Wettringen)
With five presented and at the same time licensed sons from his first crop, Viva Gold, stationed at Gestüt Westfalenhof, set a clear exclamation mark. The sires Escamillo, Global Player, Valverde, Vaderland, Zackery and Zoom each had two licensed sons.

A very thin decision in the jumping stallion class

Among the jumping stallions, Conthargos was responsible for the Champion Stallion and 2nd Reserve Champion Stallion. The winning stallion is the result of a mating with a Casall/Cassini I mare, which was done by the breeder Hans-Jürgen Heitmann, Dinklage. The typey and physically mature young stallion was exhibited by Matthias Schlamminger GmbH, Regensburg. Breeding director Münch praised the exemplary free jumping in terms of ability, elasticity and caution as well as the excellent quality of his basic gaits.
With a very thin distance an Aganix du Seigneur Z/Mylord Carthago son follows as 1st Reserve Champion (breeder: Zuchthof Meindl GmbH & CoKG, Kirchanschöring; exhibitor: Kurt Gravemeier, Münster). The still young grey stallion also convinced the commission with his powerful impression, overview and much balance in free jumping.
The 2nd Reserve Champion by Conthargos/Zavall VDL (breeder: H. Dissel, Netherlands; exhibitor: Hendrik Zurich, Schüttorf) showed one of the most sovereign rounds in free jumping on Tuesday. The muscular and well-developed chestnut stallion also scored with a correct foundation and well-supported body parts.
In addition to the three best ranked jumping stallions, four more of the approved stallions were awarded as premium stallions:
Stallion by Diamant de Casall/Bellini Royal (breeder: Ludger Gripshöver, Werne; exhibitor: Ludger und Lutz Gripshöver GbR, Werne)
Stallion by Manchester van't Paradijs/Cellestial (breeder: Gabriele Steindorfer, Rotthalmünster; exhibitor: Sport-Horses-Sirrin, Neuötting)
Stallion by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve/Calido (breeder: Frank Timmreck, Hohenberg-Krusemark; exhibitor: Mathieu Beckmann, Wettringen)
Stallion by Varihoka du Temple/Cornado I (breeder and exhibitor: Susanne Appelhans, Neuenrade).
Finally, Breeding Director Thomas Münch thanked the Commission consisting of Gerd Könemann, Heinrich Plaas-Beisemann, Holger Ronne and Michael Settertobulte on behalf of the Breeding Director Katrin Tosberg for the good cooperation as well as the training stables for the excellent production of the stallions. Everyone involved was satisfied with the newly designed stables at the Westphalian Horse Centre, where the young stallions visibly felt at home. The presentation of the stallions was also characterised by calmness and confidence. The excellent work of the free jumping team of the Westphalian Horse Centre contributed to this and they were awarded the prize for the best demonstrator - given by the BREEDERS' FORUM - for this.
