Spring champions in a double pack

Münster: Looking at the final participants of the three show jumping championships on the last day of the Westphalia Week at the Westphalian Horse Center in Münster-Handorf, there is no need to worry about the future of show jumping in Westphalia. Championship judge Hubert Uphues also came to this conclusion: "We saw a lot of excellent horses in the four- and five-year-olds as well as in the six-year-olds," was his comment.

Everything in a double pack seemed to be the motto of the day. First and second place in the four-year-old class went to the same rider and also to the same sire. With a score of 9.0, the Checkter daughter Coletta secured the championship title under the saddle of Wiebke Sievert (ZRFV Schöppingen). The gray stallion, out of a mare by Lordanos, who impressed with his jumping ability and manner as well as rideability and light-footedness, was born at Franz Becker (Metelen). Checkter was also the sire of the second-placed Checkfire, who was also presented by Wiebke Sievert and was only narrowly defeated by his stablemate with an 8.8. The breeder here was Georg Sievert (Schöppingen). The bronze medal went to the Contendrix daughter Casiano from the home of the breeding partnership Josef and Christiane Ulmker (Neuenkirchen). With Christiane Ulmker (ZRFV St. Hubertus Neuenkirchen) in the saddle, the gelding scored 8.6. The championship for five-year-olds saw a sensational double success for breeder Otmar Eckermann (Kranenburg). Two horses from his breed had identical scores after the normal round and the jump-off. Der Arnold (by Diamant de Semilly - Nabab de Reve) scored 17.6 points under the saddle of his daughter Katrin Eckermann (RV Kraneburg). The mare Sascinora (by Stakkato - First of Lorne) bred by Otmar Eckermann and ridden by Stefanie Bolte (RV Versmold) had the same score. The mare Sascinora (by Stakkato - First of Lorne) bred by Otmar Eckermann and ridden by Stefanie Bolte (RV Versmold) had the same score, which meant that two winner sashes were distributed in this final. Third place went to the stallion Cornet Royal (by Cornet Obolensky - Ballous Bellini) bred by Lutz Gripshöver (Werne). With Marie Ligges (RFV v. Nagel Herbern) in the saddle, Cornet Royal scored 17.3. The two winner sashes from the class of the five-year-olds should not remain however the only trophies for the family Eckermann. In the six-year-old class, Katrin Eckermann landed another double success. She won with Cascajall (by Casallco - Comme il faut) in the jump-off with a clear round in 43.72 seconds, which must have pleased Cascajall breeder Alfons Baumann (Rees). With the stallion Forlee (by For Pleasure - Comme il faut), a son of Eckermann's successful mare Chao Lee, she finished second (zero penalties in 47.56 seconds). Here, too, father Otmar Eckermann was the breeder.
