Rome: Jana Wargers and Limbridge second in Grand Prix

Rome/ITA (fn-press). There was almost a second German victory in a row in the Rome Grand Prix. Last year, David Will (Dagobertshausen) and C Vier triumphed in the traditional competition on the Piazza di Siena. This time Jana Wargers (Emsdetten) and Limbridge came second. Only the Irishman Denis Lynch was faster than the German couple with Brooklyn Heights..

After the rather disappointing performance of the German team in the Nations Cup on Friday (seventh place), Jana Wargers and Limbridge's second place is a more than conciliatory end to the five-star show jumping tournament in the Italian capital. The 30-year-old rider from Emsdetten and her 13-year-old Holsteiner stallion Limbridge (by Limbus - Cambridge) stayed clear in both rounds of the advanced level show jumping test and, above all, quickly in the second round (43.19). Only the final couple, Denis Lynch and Brooklyn Heights, was able to beat the time (42.52) and grab the win. Sixth place went to another German couple: Christian Kukuk (Riesenbeck) and Mumbai, who came clean in the first round but had a down in the second.

For Jana Wargers, who competed as a young rider for Germany at the European Championships in Ebreichsdorf/AUT and belonged to the perspective group for show jumping, second place in the Grand Prix of Rome is a milestone in her career. She has been under the saddle of Limbridge since spring 2021 and has established herself with him at an international level. They have achieved many very good placings, including third place in the NRW Prize at the CHIO Aachen 2021 and qualifying for the Grand Prix. The stallion is part-owned by his rider, part Belgian team Olympic champion Jos Lansink and part Ashford Farm in Belgium, which Jana Wargers also rides for. jbc
