"Wow, that was a super jumping competition," Carsten Rotermund, who is responsible for the jumping competitions in Frankfurt for the first time, was thrilled with the Prize of acáo GmbH powered by Green Mentors. "At the beginning I thought there would be too many clear rounds, because we had a lot of clear rides right at the start, but in the end we had a super jump-off with twelve pairs and again - like yesterday - Tim Rieskamp-Goedeking as the winner. Awesome!"
And Rotermund continued: "Not to forget the fast Irish Conor Drain on the eight-year-old Irish Covehill Archie," Rotermund pointed out. "He looked like the winner for a long time, but no jump-off is over before Tim has ridden." In the end, Drain finished second in 40.52 seconds, while Rieskamp-Goedeking had completed the jump-off in 37.69 seconds. "I rode full risk," gushed the 40-year-old after victory number two, yesterday Rieskamp-Goedeking had already won the Championat of Frankfurt, the FRAPORT Prize. Both times he sat in the saddle of the 13-year-old Coldplay. "If I do things by halves and try to tactic, it usually doesn't work out. With me, there always has to be a bit of emotion," the winner explained his 'non-tactics'. He gave free rein to his emotions after the finish line. As the last rider in the jump-off, it was clear as soon as he crossed the line: This was the victory! Rieskamp-Goedeking enjoyed his laps of honour, the Frankfurt spectators cheered him on with full vigour.

Markus Brinkmann also came third with a clear round on Pikeur Lord Fauntleroy in 40.92 seconds. Julien Anquetin galloped past Frankfurt victory number four by a hair's breadth. The French rider risked everything in the jump-off, was racing fast, but came completely out of place on the jump-off of the combination and finally landed in fourth place with his Belgian rider Gravity of Greenhill with a throw-off in the fastest time, 37.24 seconds.
Rotermund was also stunned by two Amazons in the world ranking jumping competition: Anna-Lisa Schlüter and Paweena Hoppe. Both are still quite inexperienced in the three-star classes, and both jumped their way into the jump-off in a stylistically impressive manner, but then each had a drop and ended up in eighth and ninth place. As the best amazon, Schlüter received the special honour prize given by Frank Hasselberg tax consultant.

With 'Layla' to the victory...and an anniversary follow-up

Because 'only' the smaller Schafhof edition could take place last year, the round anniversary of the NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKAL was celebrated a little later this year in the Festhalle.
Quotes on the anniversary:
Dr. Evi Eisenhardt, who has been at the judges' table for 29 years: "The NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKAL has always been a springboard for great international sport. This is sensational. It's a great thing for the sport!"
Frankfurt Show Director and two-time Burg-pokal winner Matthias Alexander Rath. "I can speak on behalf of all the riders: It is always a great goal to be in the final. It is a fantastic stepping stone and a wonderful opportunity to get the young horses used to big scenery. The Burg Pokal Final is the biggest thing you can achieve with a seven to nine-year-old horse."

Andreas Politycki, Member of the Board of NÜRNBERGER Versicherung: "I have been with NÜRNBERGER Versicherung for 38 years and have been involved with the NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKAL for 31 years. A partnership is like a marriage, for better or for worse. Corona was not what either of us wanted, but we stuck by each other."
This year's Burg-Pokal winner's prize went to the dressage professional from Bad Homburg, Thomas Wagner on Wynton's Son. When the song 'Layla' blared through the hall at the end of his freestyle, the audience was unstoppable. And Wagner and Wynton's Son enjoyed their cheers. The judging trio Dr. Evi Eisenhardt, Katrina Wüst and Dr. Dietrich Plewa awarded the 9.5! Susan Pape and Harmony's V-plus came second with a serious round - score 9.2. And Burg Cup double winner Andrina Suter couldn't quite contain the zeal of her nine-year-old partner Del Curto in the seething Festhalle and came third with 8.4.
Once again, the winner's prize showed: Dressage sport heats up, inspires, fascinates!

"Don Henrico has changed my life!"

It was a lunch with Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff and Klaus-Martin Rath that brought Rodolpho Riskalla and Don Henrico together. With Warenne, Rodolpho Riskalla competed at the Paralympics in his country, 2016 in Brazil, after which he was missing a horse Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff and Klaus-Martin Rath spontaneously had an idea, Rodolpho went to the Schafhof in June 2017, sat on Don Henrico and immediately felt right at home - like "home".
A year later, the pair competed at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon and came home with two silver medals, at the Paralympics in Tokyo they won silver again and this year at the World Championships in Herning they won double bronze for the successful duo.
Now Don Henrico is 19 and Rodolpho Riskalla honoured his partner in the spotlight for the last time today at the IFRF. Rodolpho was in Frankfurt once before in 2005. Back then he won the Small Final at the Young Riders World Cup Final. That was before his illness. In 2015, Riskalla fell ill with bacterial meningitis. As a result, he had to have both lower legs, his right hand and some fingers of his left hand amputated. But the courageous man never gave up on living his life and Don Henrico helped him enormously.
Accompanied by his sister Victoria and his mother Rosengele, Rodolpho Riskalla said goodbye to family member Don Henrico from sport today.
