Like mother, like son...

In 2013 Weihegold OLD had won under the final of the NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKAL and a year later dominated in the final of the Louisdor Prize. Son's Total Hope OLD thought to himself: 'I can do that too'. In 2019, the Totilas son excelled in the NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKAL in Frankfurt's Festhalle, and today he secured victory in the Louisdor Prize Final. With a score of 77.540, he clearly stood out from the rest of the field and thus delivered the second-best result ever to win a Louisdor Prize Final. Only Emilio under Isabell Werth in 2015 has ever been better with 79.10 percent. All the judges agreed on the Schockemöhle stallion's victory, as did expert commentator Dr. Dietrich Plewa: "That was already a very mature performance. I think for this performance there will be a few 9s for the first time today, especially in the piaffes," praised the dressage expert, who awarded nine 9s in total and a 10 as well. Plewa continued: "It is the basic concept that excites me about this horse: The horse has developed in every way. And all that with naturalness and an incredible amount of expression." The winner herself seemed almost gobsmacked by the way the stallion had presented himself at the Schafhof: "I am mega satisfied. This weekend here at Schafhof with Total Hope went completely beyond my expectations."

Once a licensing winner in Sweden, a six-year-old dressage horse World Championships finalist, a seven-year-old bronze winner at the Dressage Horse World Championships and BURG-POKAL winner, a nine-year-old winner in the Louisdor Prize - an impressive record. And Isabel Freese already has her eye on the next goal: "We have ridden our first World Cup qualification for Norway here today. Next year the World Championships in Herning - that would be great."

Concentrated Vitalis power marched up in second and third place: Valencia As and Valesco, both ten-year-olds, both from Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier's stable, both discovered as four-year-olds and trained to Grand Prix level by the World Team Champion. In the run-up, Valesco had actually been 'traded' a bit higher than pit neighbor Valencia, not least due to his double victory in Aachen this year in Grand Prix and Special. "Valesco was clearly more impressed by the arena here at the Schafhof than by the Aachen stadium, but that does not detract from his quality. I am incredibly grateful to have two such great horses."

It was the 14th final of the Louisdor Prize, which has been supported by the Liselott and Klaus Rheinberger Foundation since 2012. A final of special quality, as Plewa pointed out, "The quality of the horses and the riding has increased a lot. The horses' facilities are being used better and better, without it looking forced. That's a pleasure to see."

Otto-Lörke-Preis 2021 for Valesco
The Otto Lörke Prize went to the Louisdor Final third-placed Valesco. The ten-year-old Westphalian gelding has already won four international Grand Prix competitions this year. The prize is awarded to Valesco's rider Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier (Paderborn) and his owner and trainer Gina Capellmann. The prize, given by the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) and the Liselott Schindling Foundation, was presented at the Schafhof Edition in Kronberg. "When you hear who all has already received it, you already think: Oh- cool!", Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier was pleased. "Valesco has an unbelievable number of strengths and is a little natterer, but he amazes me every time. He is a terrific horse and I look forward to everything that is still to come with him." Horses like Satchmo, Bonaparte, Farbenfroh, Rusty, Gigolo, Rembrandt, Weihegold OLD, TSF Dalera BB, Showtime FRH, Cosmo or Bella Rose have already received this award. As a three-year-old, Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier had discovered Valesco together with her dam at an auction of the Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch. The chestnut gelding immediately converted his first international starts in St. George and Intermediaire II in Herning, Denmark, into victories in 2019. This was followed in 2021 by his entry into Grand Prix sport and qualification for the final of the Louisdor Prize. At the CHIO Aachen, Valesco won the Grand Prix and Special of the CDI4* Tour. The Otto-Lörke Prize was awarded for the 35th time this year. In memory of the outstanding professional rider and trainer Otto Lörke, the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) awards this prize to the rider, trainer and owner of the dressage horse, no more than ten years old, that has attracted the attention of the DOKR Dressage Committee through outstanding success in international Grand Prix competitions. The prize was initiated by Liselott Schindling-Rheinberger. For Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier and her mother Gina Capellmann it is already the second award of this kind. In 2016 they received the Otto-Lörke-Award for the training and success of Fabregaz.
