About Mylen

"I am really happy to now have the chance to work together with my best friend Sophie Hinners," Mylen Kruse beams at us at the beginning of our interview. It was only recently that the rider from RV Zeven moved from northern Germany to the Prinzenberg stud in Pfungstadt to join the team of Richard Vogel and David Will.

Mylen Kruse already grew up with horses. "Both my parents were already successful in competitive riding. Both of my brothers also rode," she tells us about the beginning of her equestrian career. "I then also had my first pony and started competing in shows." Today, when Mylen Kruse looks back at her beginnings, she would certainly work a little more on her seat foundation and approach some things with more patience.

Nevertheless, the first successes came quickly. Show riding has been part of the young rider's life since the beginning. This is also where she met her best friend Sophie Hinners. "It's actually quite a funny story. Sophie and I met at the show and then only realized much later that we were going to the same school," Kruse recalls with a smile.

Her first major successes then came in the junior arena. She credits one horse with playing a big role here: the chestnut Concas. "I owe Concas so much. He really gave me a lot of confidence, especially in the higher classes. He also often carried me through the course, which I might not have managed with another horse. Today he is now allowed to enjoy his retirement with us. I am really very happy to still be able to see him," announces the holder of the Golden Rider's Badge.

Even after setbacks, the former European team champion always looks ahead. "I always try to tick it off quickly, look forward and not let it affect me too much."

After her school career, Kruse began training with Janne Frederike Meyer Zimmermann and her husband Christoph. "With Janne and Christoph, I really learned a lot. Especially when it comes to managing horses." Even during her time with Team Meyer-Zimmermann, Mylen Kruse repeatedly bought horses herself and then trained them. "That's actually when I had the most fun with it. But that's also what brings me the most myself from a financial perspective." When Mylen is looking for young horses, she especially looks for blooded horses. "If you also look at my current horses, you'll notice that they are predominantly all very bloody," she explains with a smile. What fascinates Kruse most about training young horses is the variety. In her daily training, she always makes sure there is variety. "We always go out a lot. With the older horses, we don't actually jump that much. We try to keep them happy and work them a lot dressage-wise. But we actually do that with all the horses. In the dressage work, we do a lot of transitions, ride at an outside canter and ride leg switches and travers," the blonde announces.

The change to the team of Richard Vogel and David Will actually came as a surprise for the North German. "After I had completed my training with Janne, I initially set up my own business. Through Sophie, I was of course also always in contact with Richi. At some point, he asked me if I could imagine joining their team and making myself at home in Pfungstadt together with Sophie. Of course I didn't say no to such an opportunity," Mylen announces.

Here she has now brought five horses of her own. In addition to these, she also rides other horses from the Vogel-Will team. For the future, Mylen hopes to continue competing in international shows and make a name for herself in training young horses.
