BEMER Young Riders Tour: Ansgar Holtgers Jr. wins with only clear round

(Hagen aTW) Insiders say that jumping without a jump-off can often be more exciting than a round with many zero-fault rides, and that's exactly what happened today in the sixth special stage of the BEMER Young Riders Tour in Hagen a.T.W., Germany. Ansgar Holtgers Jr and Chanyon managed the only clear round over a technically demanding course.

28 participants from seven nations started in the first round of the Young Riders Grand Prix with a jump-off over 1.45m. Among them were the four successful members of the German team who won the Nations Cup the night before. However, the course designed by course designer Klaus Wilhelm Holle turned out to be a challenge, the spectators had to wait until the 21st starter before they were allowed to celebrate the first and only clear round. Ansgar Holtgers Jr., riding for the USA, managed the feat on the Chacco-Blue son Chanyon. “I knew there hadn't been any clear laps before me and I thought the time might be a bit tight for me. But I have so much faith in my horse and felt that anything is possible. So far it's only happened to me once that I've been the only one to go clear, but never in a Grand Prix — that's a cool feeling,” said an excited Ansgar Holtgers Jr after the Grand Prix. Sports partner with Olympic experience
The 18-year-old rider, who lives in Wellington, Florida, but also often competes in Europe, was able to benefit from the experience of his 15-year-old sports partner today. The Oldenburg gelding Chanyon was bred by the Lewitz Stud and has been owned by Gut Einhaus LLC since 2021. Previously, he was used by the Japanese Daisuke Fukushima at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. There he was able to place himself on a great sixth place in the individual ranking. Holtgers Jr trains with Olympic rider and former German champion Rene Tebbel. With Chanyon he was already able to show very good performances at an international level this year in Wellington (USA) and Hohenkirchen - Hohen Wieschendorf. Today there is a victory in the BEMER Young Riders Tour series and thus 20 points in the current ranking.

movement in the ranking
Three young German talents, each with four penalty points, lined up behind the guest from the USA. Second place went to Henry Munsberg from Hagen a.T.W. with his mare Nola Van St Maarten. Johanna Beckmann (Löningen) followed in third place with Emelie van de Mirania Stam ahead of Marie Flick (Hagen a.T.W.) and DSP Charlott in fourth place. The other two four-fault rides came from Max Wachman (IRL) on Donegal and Oliver Pisarik (CZE) and Centoulago. Thanks to his sixth place, the latter can look forward to a significant “set” up in the BEMER Young Riders Tour Ranking. Pisarik improves to 12th place thanks to the 10 points gained today. Unfortunately, Leon Brutsaert (BEL) had to accept two knockdowns and finished 10th. However, this puts him in fourth place in the overall ranking. The Brit Jessica Hewlett is still at the top with a proud 46 points. The BEMER Young Riders Tour is now taking a short break. The next and penultimate station will take place from August 23rd to 27th in Dielsdorf-Zürich, Switzerland.
