This is a big blow for Ben Maher and for the British team: One of the best horses in the world, with which Ben Maher became Olympic Champion in Tokyo, Explosion W, will not start at the WEG in Herning! The 13-year-old Chacco-Blue son is not fit.
Ben Maher himself has announced this. He said he had made the difficult decision, in consultation with owners Charlotte Rossetter and Pamela Wright, to withdraw their Olympic champion Explosion W from the FEI World Championships: "We are incredibly disappointed to have to make this decision, but Explosion W is not quite at his best yet to withstand the demands of this championship. He is well behaved, but jumping championship courses on consecutive days requires a lot of stamina. He's just too special a horse to risk, and as his welfare is a priority, I felt this was the best solution."

Ben Maher will now compete at the World Championships in Herning with his replacement horse Oakingham Stud's Faltic HB. "Oakingham Stud's Faltic HB has jumped fantastically this season, I am really looking forward to being part of a very exciting British team in Herning," added Ben Maher.
