These stallion days were special: as is well known, the conditions imposed by the pandemic were strict, and there was no audience. In order to still be able to stage the event due to the "2G+" requirement, a test center had to be set up on the site. And yet – when it was time to celebrate the champion stallion from the DSP champion and DSP premium stallion Don Royal and to applaud and pay respect to him and his breeders and owners, the mood could hardly have been better. There was probably nobody in the hall who didn't begrudge this horse the title. Jörg Schrödter, the sports commissioner for dressage at the DSP Hengsttage, went into raptures when he commented: “This stallion is second to none. His temperament was superior, he was always balanced and yet immediately present when it came to showing himself. The trot is dynamic with an enormous basic momentum, the canter is very well balanced, jumping far below. And the step is very good and composed. You can imagine a great career with this stallion, both in breeding and in sport.” And when the breeder and owner Dr. Frank Klakow was asked to take a lap of honor from handler Jan Crome-Sperling and present the stallion himself, he didn't need to be told twice. And the man can (also). No wonder, the veterinarian and successful breeder runs an insemination station together with the Brandenburg State Stud Neustadt/Dosse in Krumke, Saxony-Anhalt. He raised the stallion himself, who only switched to Crome-Sperling in mid-December, had daily grazing until then and was initially prepared in Krumke. "My absolute favourite," he explains, "totally cuddly, and always having fun at work". There are many horses willing to perform from the DSP line he has maintained for around 30 years: The dam Queen Rubin II, for example, already brought her by Asgard's Ibiza to Big Ben, who was also licensed in Munich and who was successful for Luxembourg at the World Championships for young dressage horses The full sister is the internationally successful DSP Queen Rubin, Grand Prix horses and advanced level winners come from the granddam, and the list goes on. Incidentally, Frank Klakow was able to provide a champion stallion years ago – a show jumping champion in Neustadt/Dosse. "But the victory here in Munich", says Frank Klakow, "that is the absolute highlight".

A total of eight stallions from the dressage collection were awarded a premium: In addition to the champion stallion, there were sons by Benicio, Fair Game, Fürst Samarant, Maracanà, Top Gear, Vitalis and Zackerey. The Benicio son, bred by the Bernau breeding community in Rosian and owned by Sportpferde Beckmann GmbH, combines the best DSP blood on the mother's side. The mother is a state premium mare by the DSP premium stallion Belantis I out of a daughter of the DSP parent stallion Quaterback. "Outstanding basic gaits, expressive trot and outstanding walk" was the verdict of the licensing committee on the chestnut.

The breeder of the award-winning son of Fair Game, stationed at the Birkhof, out of a Sandro Hit-Don Gregory mare, is Ernst Rus, Gingen, and the black bay was exhibited by Xenophon 2 GmbH, Bad Homburg. Behind it is none other than Sönke Rothenberger. The team Olympic and World Champion listened to the verdict of the jury - "very well constructed uphill horse, a promising overall package" in Munich. And he had two reasons to be happy: He is also the owner of the Top Gear son, who also won awards and was bred by Swiss-based Fromecs AG out of a Don Schufro-Sandro Hit mare. "Promising rhythmic and powerful movement and a high willingness to collect," says Jörg Schrödter's comment.

Mathieu Beckmann was also able to add a second sash to his collection, because his Fürst Samarant son also received an award. The breeder of the dark fox is Reiner Bockholt, Steinfurt. "A trot with a lot of expression, good load bearing in the canter and a good, rhythmic walk" attested the commission to the stallion bred by Reiner Bockholt, Steinfurt.

And another "double offender": Antonius Schulze-Averdiek from Rosendahl, who was able to present the jumping winner of this stallion days, is the breeder and owner of the premium stallion by Maracanà, a son of Millennium, who was honored in Munich on the same day as "DSP elite stallion". . The stallion was bred from a mare by Biasini-Ehrentusch. Jörg Schrödter described him as a "consistently good horse that is promising in terms of both breeding and sport."

One showed that he not only judges horses, but can also breed excellent horses himself: Dr. Dieter Schüle, top dressage judge with international merits, is the breeder and owner of the award-winning Vitalis son. He bred the chestnut out of his state premium mare Die Fidora by Foundation-Dean Martin. With the grandmother of the young stallion, the breeder's daughter herself was successful up to European Championships. "A beautiful uphill horse without weaknesses with evenly good basic gaits, good poll and good hind legs," was the comment.

The squad of premium stallions was completed by a stallion owned by Heinrich Ramsbrock, Menslage. dr Jürgen Bornhorst bred the chestnut by Zack-son Zackerey out of a state premium mare by Ehrenwort-Weltmeyer. "A very harmonious, almost perfect horse," was the comment, "a giant canter, a trot with great translation and good balance, as well as a very good, regulated walk. A stallion that leaves nothing to be desired,” was the enthusiastic comment of the dressage expert.

The fathers of the other licensed stallions are Asgard's Ibiza, Baron, Bel Amour, Benicio, Durello, Escamillo, Escolar, Jovian, Millennium, Secret (two licensed stallions), Top Gear, Totilas, Toto Jr. and Zackerey.

Torsten Große-Freese, Head of the Licensing Committee, was more than satisfied: "We have had four exciting days," said the breeding director of the Bavarian Association. "We also saw very good stallions for width and stallions of exceptional quality at the top in both dressage and jumping."

And Heike Blessing-Maurer also drew a positive conclusion: "The conditions were undoubtedly difficult," says the managing director of the Süddeutsche Pferdezuchtverband Marketing GmbH. “But the all-round positive response showed us that we obviously made the best of the situation. Now of course we are looking forward to Friday and Saturday next week.”
