Abu Dhabi: David Will wins World Cup

Abu Dhabi (fn-press). Things are going great for David Will during his stay of several weeks in the Arab world. At the weekend he won the World Cup show jumping with Babalou HD in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), which was also advertised as a Grand Prix.

For a good three years, David Will has been riding the now ten-year-old Westphalian gelding Babalou, who belongs to Hofgut Dabobertshausen, where Will is at home. The 33-year-old was always convinced of the quality of the horse and his assessment has now been confirmed. Last week two clear rounds in the Nations Cup in Abu Dhabi, now the victory in the Grand Prix, at the same time World Cup show jumping. Only two riders managed to master both the round and the second round of the top ten couples without any mistakes. In addition to David Will, this was the Belgian Constant van Paesschen. However, Will finished the race in a much better time: 39.86 seconds, while van Paesschen, riding Belgian stallion Isidor van de Helle, needed 41.77 seconds. With a time penalty, Irishman David Simpson finished third with Dutch gelding Foundre F (1/48.50).

David Will had more success to look forward to as he rode to a second win at the Al Shira'aa Stables facility. With the gelding Forest Gump by Forsyth from the Oldenburg International breeding association, he won a two-phase show jumping test. And with Babalou he placed sixth in the qualification for the World Cup show jumping. hen
